mental health evaluations for immigration cases

Asylum cases

Providing detailed assessment of an individual’s symptoms of PTSD, depression, or other mental health conditions, and how the individuals’ experience of, or impending persecution, contribute to their mental health symptomology.  My assessments can also identify psychological reasons that may impact a person who has missed the filing deadline.

Extreme hardship and cancellation of removal cases

These evaluations will assess how separation from a non-citizen can trigger extreme psychological distress in the life of a U.S permanent resident or citizen. Psychological distress may impact illness, disability, professional, financial, academic, and other aspects for a resident's life should separation occur. I will highlight challenging factors specific to each case.

The assessment that is conducted to demonstrate the emotional and psychological impact of deportation on an individual and their family members is typically done when a person is already in a deportation process.

VAWA cases

Victims against Women's Act (VAWA) is available to any individual who has experienced domestic violence by their U.S citizen spouse, parent, or child, regardless of gender. These evaluations provide details on psychological symptoms that are often present in victims of domestic violence, assessing credibility, and providing education on various forms of domestic abuse.

T Visa/U Visa cases

A U-Visa is a type of visa that is available to individuals who are victims of certain crimes and who are living in the United States without proper documentation. The purpose of the U-Visa is to provide temporary legal status to non-citizen victims of crimes who have suffered substantial mental or physical abuse and who are willing to assist law enforcement officials in the investigation or prosecution of the criminal activity.

Likewise, a T-Visa also provides temporary legal status to undocumented individuals who suffered abuse resulting from a crime. T-Visas are specifically for victims of human trafficking.

The process

Evaluations take about 3 hours (Two 90-minute sessions) of meeting with the client to compile a comprehensive, clinically focused report, and 12-15 pages-long written assessment for each case. The meetings are done virtually, using a HIPAA-compliant platform. I have experience using interpreters and can assist with finding one if needed.

Please schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation by clicking the blue box below. During our consultation, I will be able to answer further questions and discuss next steps.

Cost

The cost for evaluation is $1100.00. I offer a payment plan and accept credit card payments. If using a payment plan, an initial payment of $600 is due at the time of the first meeting. The final payment is due when the report is ready to be submitted, usually 3 weeks after the first appointment.  An additional fee is charged for faster turn-around.
